‘Caprica’ Season 1.5 Trailer Is Online, Heavy On The Action

I’m just going to say up front how deeply disappointed I am that SyFy won’t be airing the second half of “Caprica”’s first season until January 2011 . Not cool. Fans of “Battlestar Galactica” are certainly used to such long mid-season breaks, but that doesn’t make them any more welcome. That said, there’s a new trailer online for season 1.5 and it’s quite good. Lots of action, seemingly more than we saw in the first half of the season. Not that either is necessarily bad, but it’s good to know that there’s going to be forward development on the Graystone/Cylon front. That is, after all, a key component in what ties this show to Ron Moore and David Eick’s excellent

The trailer for ” Sucker Punch ” that premiered at San Diego Comic-Con and which is now online at Apple.com is, in a word, f–king awesome. That’s two words. One isn’t enough to contain the visual splendor on display in our first in-motion look at Zack Snyder ’s latest effort, also his first wholly original work. There should be a law about Nicolas Cage movies. I don’t want to see limits placed on them, mind you. The show is over folks. The “Saw” franchise, after six successful big screen outings — with a seventh still coming later this year — moralizing serial killer Jigsaw is packing it in. Lionsgate has officially announced that “Saw 3-D” will cap off the series with its first eye-popping excursion into the film format that “Avatar” made so popular. Here’s a trailer for the October release, filled with all of the creepy/gritty imagery we’ve grown used to over the years. Now… how long do you think it will be before Jigsaw appears in his very own prequel ?!

1:00 pm Running behind schedule as is the trend today, but Angelina Jolie will be here, so it’s worth the wait. 1:12pm Here’s some footage from “Salt,” looks like the police car scene that was in trailers, except more. She ends up shooting a taser at the driver and starts driving the car. 1:13 pm Best stunt of the footage is of Salt once she’s been captured, jumping out of a helicopter. Epic. 1:13 pm “They took everything from me. I’ll kill them.” Sounds like Salt is Lady Vengeance herself. 1:14 pm Footage is done, here come director Phillip Noyce, star Liev Schrieber and producer Lorenzo DiBonaventura. 1:15 pm And here is Angelina Jolie herself, wearing a very swank leather dress. 1:15 pm “It took a long, long time to get this made, but we got it made with the exact right person,” Noyce says of the fact “Salt” was originally written for a man. 1:16 pm “It was the first time I had a time to do something based in reality,” Jolie says of the action films she’s done. 10:00am People are settling in, Hall H is filling for the first time of Comic-Con 2010. 10:08am Still waiting for the panel to start, looks like they’re trying to cram as many people in as possible. The 3-D glasses they gave us when we entered bode well, though. It seems like a lot of studios are looking to follow “Avatar”’s success with them last year. 10:14am All right, we’re getting this show on the road. Moderator is shouting out all the people who camped out overnight. 10:15am False alarm, Either we’re going to have a very short “Megamind” panel, or the rest of the day is going to be very delayed. 10:17am Eddie Ibrahim welcomes us to Hall H, giving a shoutout to RealD 3-D. Glasses on! 10:18am RealD 3-D just gave a pretty cool advertisement in 3-D. Nice but… time for the panel to start. 10:20am HitFix’s Drew McWeeny is moderating the Dreamworks panel, walks out on to the stage. 10:20am Director Tom McGrath comes out on the stage to tell us about the movie. 10:21am “For Dreamworks, its our first superhero movie, and we get to bring it to Comic-Con which is really fun,” McGrath says. 10:21am “Comic Con! Green screen is all the rage these days. And that’s fine. ” Avatar ” wouldn’t have been the same without it. Frankly, “Avatar” wouldn’t have been without it… along with 90% of the other blockbuster film that audiences flock to theaters for. That said, there’s something about doing things the old-fashioned way. Makeup, costumes and models instead of CG fabrications. Practical sets instead of digital backdrops. ” Inception ” is great on that front. Director Christopher Nolan certainly makes ample use of green screen, but the moments that count, such as the incredible hallway fight scene glimpsed in all of the trailers, are done the old-fashioned way. ‘Faster’ Trailer Has Dwayne Johnson Waving A Mighty Large Gun In Your Face

I am a Dwayne Johnson fan. Never been much for professional wrestling, but as soon as he transitioned to serious film acting, I was game. “The Rundown” is great fun. “Walking Tall” is too, in the way that Steven Seagal’s ’90s efforts were. “Be Cool”… well… it wasn’t very good. But Johnson at least made it bearable to sit through! Now we have ” Faster ,” opening on November 24. The trailer lays out the story in the broadest of strokes — Johnson is going to need to put down that nasty-looking revolver and forgive — but that’s all. We know from previous coverage that he wants vengeance for the death of his brother, killed years earlier in a double-cross. Don’t expect Oscar material, but this one looks like a whole lot of fun for a late-fall action flick. Enjoy the new trailer.
